Situation Analysis for Oregon’s Seaweed Aquaculture Industry

In 2022, The Nature Conservancy conducted a situation analysis to understand better the potential for restorative seaweed aquaculture development in Oregon, including the potential positive and negative impacts of the marine industry. This report focuses on seaweed aquaculture in the marine environment and explores basic questions concerning species options, high-potential locations and co-location opportunities for development, potential in-water production methods, market opportunities, supply chain analyses, ecological considerations, policy needs, and the landscape of current and potential partners.
